This is the new special edition where, through the lens of Greek and foreign photographers, the Greek F-4E AUP of 117 CW in Andravida are presented in a unique album. With 156 pages now - initially the edition was announced with 84 pages - although "not even 1,000 are enough for Greek Ghosts", as the author Dimitris Stathopoulos typically says. In the album you will find more than 300 photos, 20+ color unique profiles, historical facts and of course modelers will draw many ideas for their favorite Phantoms.
The book begins with a brief historical overview of the Peace Icarus I and II programs and the training of the first CW "Ghosts" in America at Homestead Air Force Base in Florida in 1973-4. It is impressive that through short texts new facts and information are revealed that overturn much of the little we knew until today. Especially the education chapter is revealing. The information is the result of three years of research with sources such as the testimonies of Greek pilots and technicians who experienced them firsthand, the historical department of the USAF and Boeing, the narrations of American pilots who brought the aircraft to Greece, as well as those of American instructors of our pilots in Homestead, plus its painstakingly recovered rare surviving base history.
This chapter is a short summary, full of substance, of the research being done for the three-volume edition being prepared on the history of the Greek F-4E. There will be revealing interviews of Greek and American pilots and more detailed information. The first volume is readyThis is followed by a presentation of the 117 CW, an extensive reference to the variants of the Greek Phantoms, the upgrade program of the F-4Es to AUP, a presentation of the Squadrons of the Wing and the SOT (home of the "Phantom Andravidas") and the end of Exercise Iniochos. Impressive armament chapter with unique graphics, with aerial and ground photographic material of armed F-4 AUPs.
Of course, within the 204 pages there is an amazing photo album, where the different "eyes" of the Greek and foreign photographers who have collaborated with the author stand out. A unique recipe that also contributed to the success of the first book "F-16 FIGHTING FALCON: 30 YEARS IN HALF SERVICE" which was sold out.
Enjoy the famous F-4E through the lens of Greek and foreign photographers in a unique album about the Greek Phantoms of the 117 CW in Andravida. 204 pages containing more than 300 photos, 20 colour profiles, information and historical data and of course lots of modelling interest!
